About Us
We engage in collaborative approaches that target disparities in health and health outcomes and seek to achieve health equity, especially among traditionally underserved minority, underinsured, and uninsured communities.
We believe the key to making these advances lies in effective community-academic partnerships that foster trust through bidirectional communication and shared leadership that extends over and above individual projects to infuse long-term, multisector collaboration.
Resources
To that end, the OCHRE is committed to building capacity for culturally sensitive, community-engaged research by providing the following opportunities to the research community:
- Community Advisory Panel
Curating a Community Advisory Panel (CAP) of diverse community stakeholders, patients, and caregivers prepared to review and advise on nascent ideas and research questions to facilitate project design and execution from inception to evaluation.
- Consultation & Technical Assistance
Providing consultation and technical assistance. There are a variety of ways in which the OCHRE can assist investigators with best practices for incorporating community engagement into various aspects of the research process. Contact OCHRE via [email protected] to learn more.
- Spanish Language Resources (SLR)
Sustaining Spanish Language Resources to enable investigators to design Spanish-language outreach and research materials that are culturally and conceptually equivalent to English translations and appropriate for the needs of low-health literacy individuals.
- Students’ Practice & Service-Oriented Learning
The Department of Family and Community Medicine’s Division of Community Medicine offers medical student engagement opportunities.
